AI Open Innovation Challenge 2026

The Challenge

Participants are tasked with identifying a pressing issue within their chosen category and developing an AI-driven solution. The project would demonstrate scalable and impactful outcomes aligned with a real-world social impact areas.

Eligibility Criteria

Form a team of up to 3 - 5 members to participate in this journey

SMA/SMU/SMK

  • Student with 13 - 18 years old from SMA/SMK.
  • Team consist of 3 - 5 members.
  • Mixed grade within 10 - 12 allowed.

University & Public

  • Age requirement (19–28 years old) applies only to the Traffic Management and Waste Management categories. No age restriction applies to other categories.
  • Team consist of 3 - 5 members.
  • Cross major welcome.

Competition Timeline

Mark your calendars for these important dates

  • Early April - Open Registration and Submission Proposal

    The hackathon officially commences. The challenge statement and participant guidebook are released.

  • Mid May - Deadline Submission Proposal

    Selected teams will be officially notified and invited to participate in the final stage of the hackathon.

  • Early June - Semifinalist Announcement

  • Mid June - Tutorial from Tech Provider

    All semifinalists will undergo one week of intensive online tutorials conducted by technology providers to master the necessary AI tools. (Output: creating a video of mock up dashboard)

  • End June - Video Submission

  • Early July - Finalist Announcement

  • Mid July - Mentoring & Coaching

    This phase focuses on developing a functional hardware or software prototype and a final presentation.

  • End July - Site Visit Company

    Participants will visit case provider companies to explore real-world problems firsthand. And developing the ideas of digital mockups and dashboards to solve the cases

  • 31 August - Final Submission

  • Early Sept - Final Event

    Finalists will showcase their prototypes and present their solutions to a judging panel to crown the winners.

  • Mid Sept - Business Matching

    The winner teams will enter business matching sessions with companies to discuss the potential implementation of their AI innovations and collaborations.
